Segway Virgin No More

Image
As a Travel Agent and a Concierge for one of the best hotels at Fisherman's Wharf, I should have a TripAdvisor profile, right? I stopped Yelp -ing (7 years Elite status, btw) because I wanted most of my content on my blog but now I'm thinking the more users can see that I have experience via many sites, the better. So let's try this. I was invited to review the San Francisco Electric Tour Company after an amazing experience on TripAdvisor and Yelp . My good friend and fellow entrepreneur of ACT Language Schools , Nikki B., were happy to do so! Here it is!  Please like or give us a thanks to our reviews!  On Tripadvisor ... A segway? That's for lazy people and Paul Blart , right? Melanie, our Tour Guide, did crack jokes that Americans are lazy but her jokes won't stop there so keep up! This was my first segway tour and I brought along a dear friend who was also a first-timer. We arrived 15 minutes early, as instructed, with our close-toed shoes a...

Menlo Grill & Bar - Menlo Park, CA

The owners of the Stanford Park Hotel are a client of a law firm I worked for seven years and now my Cugino works there as a server. This was my second time visiting and it's mainly because I wanted to see my Cousin. It's been quite a bit of time. It's a beautiful hotel and part of a chain with locations in Lafayette , Bodega Bay , Monterey , Carmel ,  San Francisco , and Napa . I went to a Yelp Elite event at the one in Lafayette and my aunt got married at the one in Bodega Bay. Check out my other post of a recent weekend getaway in Bodega Bay. It was wonderful. My cousin has been the lounge the two times I came to visit. I did bring my other two cousins the first time and we sat by the fireplace. I had a custom fruit bowl and a whiskey cocktail I had to pass onto my cousin. It was making me sleepy as work has been draining me. They had the kale salad and a beer. This is wear my cousin Leslie told me that she was pregnant! I felt honored to be told bef...

First Check-In at Yelp HQ in SF

Image
Are we friends on Yelp ? Do you write reviews? Are you doing the 100 reviews challenge this year? Do you check-in? I checked into the Yelp headquarters for the first time this week. I was a Yelp Elite for seven years but am no longer one as I'm not a business owner. It is definitely much different being on the other side. I am responsible with responding to all of our reviews, marketing and advertising on the site. I visited the HQ for an introduction to Yelp Reservations, formerly SeatMe. I realized that an old colleague and now fellow Event Planner was there after I checked in on Facebook. I hear, " Bern ?!?" The pretty lady in a yellow dress had a few managers with her from a restaurant along The Embarcadero.  The presentation was interesting and the marketing panel of other industry professionals was informative. The event was mostly full but it was pretty long. If I ever went back to school, not sure I'd be able to sit still that long. Their offi...

My Photos on My Blog Only

Image
I loved being a Yelp Elite for seven years. From my Stripped post , the title was taken from me once I became an owner of DW . I took photos of my food, the space and wrote reviews. I would post most photos on Yelp versus any other social media site. My photos are the world thru my eyes and they belong on my blog. Call it exclusive content. I do all of the social media for DW and though I have only taken one photography class back in college, I get so many compliments on the photos I have taken and posted on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google+ to promote DW . No need to pay professionals to take photos of our food or space unless it's needed in high-resolution. Media takes them for free and are used in the press. I will be doing the same thing. All photos unless otherwise noted on my blog moving forward will be owned by me. Permission may be granted for use of the photos. Sorry, Yelp , I love you but photos will be here. I am working on the 2016 100 Review Cha...

#250KChallenge Week 8

Do not eat the doughnut! Damnit! Look what Sunshine and I started on Friday. My Service Manager asked if one of us has time to go get him two glazed doughnuts and a box for the rest of the staff. Have time? For doughnuts? Hell yes!!!  The guys at All Star Donuts love us. We come into the spot already salivating. On Friday, Sunshine left some older man salivating. As we got up to leave, he asks, "You gonna be here tomorrow?" "No, I don't think so." "I'll be waiting here for you." Annnnnd we're never going back there again! Creepy doughnut shop guy.  On our way back to DW , I saw that the Pinx Catering van was in the loading dock! Their maple bacon is delicious! I went to a Yelp Elite event with Mykey at the Sierra Nevada Taproom in Berkeley, Pinx was there! I had soooo many pieces of bacon. And I remember that at that time, I wasn't too crazy about the beer. Now I crave it sometimes! But speaking of creepy... That...

Stripped!

632 reviews 57 first to review 908 photos 45 followers 517 friends 743 compliments 107 tips 5,000 check-ins 8 years of Yelp Elite status, now officially 7 I'm sad to say that I have been stripped of my 2015 Yelp Elite status due to now being a business owner . It's ok, I completely understand. It's been a fun road and I have met some cool people, been exposed to great products and was able to attend fun events . But it's time to move on and welcome my fellow Yelpers to my establishment. It will be great to see you, my friends. Just as I have done as a Yelper and Yelp Elite, I trust the reviews will be honest and creative. I wouldn't expect anything less. I look forward to meeting those I haven't yet had the pleasure. Please do not hesitate to introduce yourself to me and/or let me know of any issues. I will personally address them. So goodbye, Yelp Elite status. I have motivated and encouraged many others to strive for t...
