Curious About the Mission

Image
It's nice that some people think I would know where some of the new and hot places are. Thank you to those folks, but in fact, I have a lot of places to try. The list is long. I do not have to add Curio to that list, however, I do need to go back and try their protein dishes as I went on Meatless Monday . The invitation to preview Curio at 775 Valencia in the Mission district came to the Concierge team and we jumped on getting a reservation. Because of my schedule, I typically miss out on quite a few of these events but it was great to attend this one! I invited my #Instafriend, Julia. (What's an #Instafriend? I should probably do a blog post on that.) We both arrived via our separate Uber s (use my code: cmo4h) and sat at the bar. The location is attached to The Chapel , a music venue I have yet to go to as a live music lover. It has two bars, three separate dining areas and a patio. The windows bring in a lot of natural light, the decor is a mix of wood, deep col...

#250KChallenge 2017 Ends

Image
Let's be honest, I didn't do well at all with this challenge. I am not where I want to be physically but I think I am still strong and am pretty proud that I can get back to jogging a 5K. It hurt, but I got it done. I did take after photos yesterday and compared them to the photos from 12 weeks ago. Not a single thing has changed and I didn't want to post them. I am disappointed but I can only blame myself. I was pretty happy, working a lot, indulging in food and drink and having a good time. I didn't work out every single day like I did last year and my diet was terrible. Today, I am dressed for the gym, ordered my Shredz supplements and will be creating a workout schedule. I would like to eat better and limit drinking, which is hard to say as I have a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge for later this afternoon. My Sunshine is coming over. It's been almost a year since she left to travel the world. Then I am heading back up to wine country to s...

Kill the Lights

Image
The lights did go out when Luke Bryan took the stage on Friday, April 29th in Concord, California. He is currently one of the biggest names in country music and is one of my favorites. How could he not! Look at that face! The very first song I liked of his was 'Rain is a Good Thing.' 'Whiskey makes my baby feel a little frisky.' That is also a line my baby nephew didn't understand so he never got it right when he was singing the song. Country music tells a story, has fun lyrics that aren't all about 'bitches and hoes' and money. And I'm OK with the sound of a banjo like on Taylor Swift's 'Mean.' But beyond that song, I have to thank my ex-boyfriend and Marine for turning me onto country. It all started with Kenny Chesney, who I have seen once live. Luke's 'Rollercoaster' also hit home when I was talking to a man that I met in Boston on our 36-hour-trip but lived in Ottawa, Canada. It was an interesting 'friend...

Show Me Your Dog!

Image
Mine was long, thin and a bit charred. Definitely not as cute my Boston Terrier. BEVO!!! Wearing the Bianca Earrings ($39). Then there's one of my favorite b*tches and my lunch dining partner for the day. On my way into work, I asked her to pick a place for lunch. It was a gorgeous day and we wanted something different. We either eat at DW or go to The Market. " Ethiopean ?" I was not up to being that adventurous and asked her to try again. She said Showdogs was recommended by a friend of hers. Sold. Check them out at 1020 Market Street in San Francisco. It was a great day and we walked down Market Street. Sunshine got hollered at numerous times by the men on the street. " Hookie. Hookie. Hookie. " What on God's green earth does that mean? " Sunshine, he called you a hooker. Are you going to take that? " Another man yelled at her saying she was a "tall, beautiful woman." Indeed, Sir. I concur. Prepare yourself for som...

#250KChallenge Week 8

Do not eat the doughnut! Damnit! Look what Sunshine and I started on Friday. My Service Manager asked if one of us has time to go get him two glazed doughnuts and a box for the rest of the staff. Have time? For doughnuts? Hell yes!!!  The guys at All Star Donuts love us. We come into the spot already salivating. On Friday, Sunshine left some older man salivating. As we got up to leave, he asks, "You gonna be here tomorrow?" "No, I don't think so." "I'll be waiting here for you." Annnnnd we're never going back there again! Creepy doughnut shop guy.  On our way back to DW , I saw that the Pinx Catering van was in the loading dock! Their maple bacon is delicious! I went to a Yelp Elite event with Mykey at the Sierra Nevada Taproom in Berkeley, Pinx was there! I had soooo many pieces of bacon. And I remember that at that time, I wasn't too crazy about the beer. Now I crave it sometimes! But speaking of creepy... That...
