Today this blog reached 90,000 hits. Though it's not an astronomical amount, it is on track to its biggest month in three years and I wrote my 400th post yesterday. It was created just for fun but lately I'm looking forward to seeing what can come out of it. I have been inspired by those that travel the globe and eat and drink and be merry and get paid to share it with everyone. My dream job was to be a food critic but events, being social and marketing is what I love! My main goal of this blog is to motivate and inspire people. I have gotten some feedback from other women, and it feels really, really good. It makes me want to continue with it. My write-up on my sister Melyssa Green, @melygreen and Co-Founder of On-Point Machining is now one of my Top 10 posts. The blog is making progress everyday and maybe one day it'll help me get that Hawaii beach house. #MotivationMonday Indeed Today has been a good day so far. I also booked DW 's first holiday restaurant buy...

Show Me Your Dog!

Image
Mine was long, thin and a bit charred. Definitely not as cute my Boston Terrier. BEVO!!! Wearing the Bianca Earrings ($39). Then there's one of my favorite b*tches and my lunch dining partner for the day. On my way into work, I asked her to pick a place for lunch. It was a gorgeous day and we wanted something different. We either eat at DW or go to The Market. " Ethiopean ?" I was not up to being that adventurous and asked her to try again. She said Showdogs was recommended by a friend of hers. Sold. Check them out at 1020 Market Street in San Francisco. It was a great day and we walked down Market Street. Sunshine got hollered at numerous times by the men on the street. " Hookie. Hookie. Hookie. " What on God's green earth does that mean? " Sunshine, he called you a hooker. Are you going to take that? " Another man yelled at her saying she was a "tall, beautiful woman." Indeed, Sir. I concur. Prepare yourself for som...

400th & 88th

Image
My 400th blog post is about a very special woman to me, my Lola, Victoria Ciubal Manzano. She turned 88-years-old today. She had three sons and recently went thru back surgery around the holidays. She is doing much better and we are so thankful that four generations of Manzanos were able to be together to celebrate her birthday. And we celebrated it at Dirty Water . After a few hours of event planning work, I was able to see my Little Loves in Pacifica and see a young, important little girl in my life, my Princess Arya. She's two and a half and will be three in September. I helped brush her teeth for the first time tonight. Oh, the joys of being an auntie. One day, maybe I'll be so lucky to be a mommy. Until then, I am enjoying life and time with my Lola and my babies. ( Is It In the Cards ? ) ----- This is #23 of 30 daily blog posts as recommended by a fellow blogger.  Color U Bold  says her views have tripled over a month due to posting everyday as step 1. ...

Asian Art Museum - Thursday Nights

Image
As an entrepreneur, I live at DW . I am making an effort to go out and explore my own backyard to be more knowledgeable about my community. However, I don't really like to travel too far and jumping in an Uber seems like a trek for now, plus in heels. The Asian Art Museum kicked off their food tasting series on Thursday nights. April 14th was the first one ever. How cool to be a part of this and support the arts and a fellow neighbor. I did miss the first Thursday of month where they have a cash bar. Maybe another time. But happy 50th birthday, AAM! I attempted to invite my staff on my dime but no one was available. I ended up going with a friend I met at DW , Danielle. It has been a few months since I have seen her but she has been supportive of our events at DW including our Women Wednesdays. We had a good time. The Asian Art Museum is walking distance from DW . Beware of the homeless folks that stay by the Bill Graham building. I haven't had any issues so as long as...

GirlVentures & #EqualPayDay

Studies have shown that giving back improves your mood ( Donating Increases Happiness ). DW has an event once a month called Women Wednesdays that give back to organization that benefit women, children, promotes health and encourages and supports education. I absolutely love hearing the wonderful feedback from our guests that what we are doing is appreciated and that they are happy to attend. The organizations are just as gracious as well. For our very first event, it was Whiskey & Women, but it benefited the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund that is a block away from DW . I sat down with a couple and I was thanked for holding the event and selecting the organization of the evening. The woman was a breast cancer survivor and was able to get by with the help of the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund . The sincere look in both of their eyes made my eyes water, just as they now as I remember that moment. I have done several Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and AIDS Walk SF . Spons...

5 Apps I Use Before I Get Out of Bed

Image
As an entrepreneur, I live, sleep and literally eat and drink my business. Over the weekend, I even dreamt about the big Veuve Clicquot event we are having at DW on April 28, 2016. So far there are 8,500 people interested in the event. Even at 10%, it will be our biggest event since we've opened. Before I get out of bed to take my dog out to the bathroom, I use the below apps for business and personal reasons. Twitter I manage my personal account and DW's. Thru the evening, I have people checking in or responding to a tweet I posted before I closed my eyes. We are located in the Twitter building and have my former law clerks, Reuben and Eileen, for getting me hooked. When users tweet us, I want to respond as soon as I can. Whether it's a thank you tweet for coming in, asking what they ordered or asking them to come back soon. It takes two seconds and I am thankful for their support and for taking a moment to tweet us to their followers. Believe it or not, we have the...

A Weekend of Sports

Manny Pacquiao supposedly is retiring from boxing and he fought Timothy Bradley one more time on April 9, 2016. I had a party at my house. Liquor, wine, beer. And a whole lot of bubbles and tequila. Sausage and pineapple apps from Pinterest . They were a hit. I also made a deconstructed cannoli but it wasn't very good. Tried ricotta cheese out of the container and it was a bad idea. Missing a few folks. Not as big as the last one but still so much fun. My newest friends thanks to the Army Corp of Engineers. Thanks, Joe! Poor, poor, poor Nelson. Fun ladies Vera made it! What spontaneous trip will we schedule this year? Shots!!! Post multiple shots Timer set. Capt. Morgan has nothing on me! Thank you, Manny, for giving me a reason to get these folks together. It was a fun night, even after going to Chalk It Up for some pool. I got up at 5 am wanting water. Then I saw the blackberries. Killed those. Saw the strawberrie...
