Women Wednesday - South American Wine

On August 3rd from 5-8pm at Dirty Water, we continue with our monthly Women Wednesday event. Tara, our Wine Director and Sommelier, has recently returned from Argentina and Chile. She says part of being a Sommelier is telling stories. Since DW has opened, the rest of us have wished her a fabulous trip with envy to expenses paid (minus the airfare) trips to France and now South America. Some days she'll come into work a bit exhausted and her reasoning is 'so much wine.' Poor Tara, right?



Well she deserves it. At such a young age of 26, she is now studying for her Advanced Sommelier exam. Go get 'em, Tara.

Please join us for Women Wednesday with a special South American wine flight and meet Tara's recent travel companion and owner of Copa Fina Wine Imports, Shelbi Herring. One dollar of each purchased goes to La Raza Community Resource Center, a non-profit with programs such as a Mother's Support Group. It provides a 'safe place for communal support amongst women int he Latin community' and 'they learn that help comes in emotional and social forms, and that seeking and providing such support, by way of camaraderie is not only beneficial, but uniquely empowering.'

In addition to a dollar going to a non-profit, you will earn an entry to win a $60 gift certificate to OneLuv Skin Studio in San Francisco.

I became a fan of the Bad Girls Club when a Season 3 marathon was airing (in 2008, is it?) and I just had the television on while I was doing chores around the house. My Most Engaging Post Yet

Christmas is just days away. A storm in the Bay Area has passed. Two holiday parties were a success. But these past 18 hours have been a whirlwind for sure. Yesterday evening, after dinner, in our home office discussing the home we are in process of purchasing, holding a gray box from The Shane Company , my boyfriend (wearing a black long sleeved shirt and his Adidas pants with white paint stains from painting the condo earlier this year, and I in jeans, my Toby Keith blue tank top from his Las Vegas “ I Love This Bar ” restaurant, my blue SFSU zipper up sweatshirt, and my brown childhood blanket draped over my lap) got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. “Yeah.” I hugged him tight and kissed him repeatedly. It's Gonna Be May

I'm sure you've seen it. If you have a friend named May, the *Nsync memes are overtaking your Facebook and Instagram feed, right? Tomorrow ends the month of April and I was 10 posts behind the daily blog post challenge. For this Monday Motivation post, I will keep going until I reach that 30 count. Better late than never! May is turning out to be a busy month. Not surprising for this One Busy Bee. I finally have a set schedule for my part time job as a Concierge at the Argonaut Hotel at Fisherman's Wharf. I really do like the job, what I'm doing, the hotel and staff, and how the time spent here contributes to my experience in the travel and tourism industry, all the while continuing in the hospitality industry as well. Working only about 30 hours a week, it will finally allow me to schedule workouts, get in some sort of sleeping pattern and work on my business as a Travel Agent . There is so much to do!
