My First iMovie

Image
I have just returned to California from the Carolinas and Georgia after spending a few days with my 12-year-old nephew. As the 5,000 plus photos accumulate on my phone, I have added an abundance more and videos to share. I failed to bring my converter for my iPhone earphones to plug into the armrest to watch any of the movies and entertainment offered on my JetBlue flight. So I explored putting together my first few iMovies. We had a great time visiting Wilmington, North Carolina and the USS North Carolina, Myrtle Beach, Boone Hill Plantation and Charleston, South Carolina and a spontaneous trip to Savannah, Georgia. We then explored Raleigh, North Carolina for their Caribbean Festival downtown and Durham and Duke University. Oh, the laughs and the food we had! East Coast - August 2018 Yosemite - June 2018 More detailed posts to come and I had fun putting these together. Stay tuned for more and follow my YouTube channel here. Cruise Through Prepping for Your Cruise

Image
With just a few days until my friend, Catherine, and I depart the port in San Diego for Mexico on my first Holland America cruise and her first cruise ever, we discussed some items to do as we got a manicure and pedicure at Mimi's Nails in Castro Valley, California. First things first! Do not forget to get those nails done, Ladies! In Mexico, flip flops and open toed shoes are required. Don't be that girl. While you still have time at home, this One Busy Bee highlighted the below with Catherine while sitting in those nice massage chairs. 1) Check-in & Important Documents - On Holland America 's website, you can check in, print out your boarding pass and luggage tags . Unfortunately, I did not see an invitation to download an app and have all these items easily accessible but hopefully this is something they are working on. Besides the documents already mentioned, I printed the confirmation of the excursions we booked and our full itinerary just in case there...

Limon Rotisserie - Walnut Creek, California

Image
" This chicken is so good ." "I've never had Peruvian food before ." "I have to come back to try their other items. " I love exposing my friends to new restaurants. I like that my friends come to me for recommendations on where to eat. Those friends even passed on my recommendations to those from Hawaii who will be visiting the San Francisco Bay Area in the near future. The power of word of mouth is so important. In this day of age where information can travel in a split second, business owners need to value every inquiry and customer in hopes of new business and to create repeat customers. My friend Tara is one of my oldest friends. It was her birthday this past week and we decided to meet half way and have lunch. I opened my OpenTable app and found Limon has opened a location in Walnut Creek. I have been to the location on Valencia Street in San Francisco and had a delicious meal and excellent service there. I couldn't go wrong with Lim...

Happy Clients

Image
In this day and age of three-year-olds asking their parents for their iPhones when they're bored and movies available via Amazon Prime , Netflix or Hulu within weeks of it being pulled from movie theaters, I get pretty excited when I receive personal snail mail. I enjoy sending post cards at random to friends and family and I love receiving them in return. My male roommate gets more personal mail than I do! I may be just a little jelly. Though not snail mail, a card was hand-delivered by a client, thanking me for making her sister-in-law's bridal shower a wonderful event. I checked on the table every so often and they were very happy. My client was sweet, friendly and so appreciative. The card put me in a good mood.   Do you send personal snail mail? How do you show your appreciation? See more raves on my work as an Event Planner HERE . #BecauseGoals

Image
The hashtag comes from Fit & Thick and the beautiful Nicole Mejia that I follow on Instagram . I use it when I'm feeling motivated and determined. Let's be real, this #250KChallenge thru Bodybuilding.com isn't going so well with one week left but I'm trying. I have had successes, a poor diet with lots of whiskey but I have managed to still work out at least five days a week. Not bad. I just wish the progress was noticeable. I write this after reading a part of the Spring 2017 issue of On Investing from Charles Schwab  late last night. Friday night party animal, right here! Two headers caught my attention that I shared via Snapchat (bappletree) and my Instagram Story. " Start saving and investing today. " & I posted the above Instagram with caption: " On my late night date with Chuck (reading Charles Schwab on #Investing mag, that is) after prepping to do my taxes, I thought I'd share this. I have/had so many students on...

Chances Are... 2017

Image
It's that time again. I want that vacation home! Safeway 's Monopoly game is on and I know of more friends playing along as well. Nelson is playing too! You know, that guy that threw a bunch of them away last year! GAH! ( Chances are.. . ) After learning that I play, he used to give me all of his game tickets. Not anymore. Will, my roommate, is my main contributor. I look over to where my game board is and more and more tickets appear. I asked him what he would do with his share of the $1 million. " Pay bills. " And he's not alone.  I would like to say that I am not coming into work. I do love my job but I probably wouldn't work as hard as I do. I would buy myself my Hawaii home and start my new life. I am missing just a few pieces from each prize but aren't we all! So far quite a few winners have been announced via their app which is a major improvement. When I first started playing a few weeks ago, the biggest prize that was won was a ...

Feed a Cold

Image
Perhaps it was a weekend staying in with a still sick roommate, or the walk in the wind and rain to the car from shutting down Dave & Buster's at the Serramonte Mall, now called the Serramonte Cente r, in Daly City, CA or two back-to-back 11-hour days, but I had to take a sick day. Which doesn't really mean I didn't work. I have been doing nothing but! In between working and writing this post, I had to get some food. I didn't feel like cooking so I turned to the trusty Eat24.com website and ordered some food for delivery. I mostly get food from Favorite Indian Restaurant while using the app/website but I needed soup. And though I haven't worked out at all this week besides the 12,000+ a day steps that were done and some squats in between, I didn't hold back in ordering $40 worth of food from King Kong Chinese Restaurant , including Hot & Sour Soup, Deep Fried Wontons, Honey Walnut Prawns and Dry Braised String Beans. Yes, all for me. I offered some ...

PokemonGo, No, OK...

Image
What's the big fuss? I never watched the Pokemon cartoon and my PS2 is sitting in my room collecting dust with Tomb Raider in the drive. Let's face it, Lara Croft is a hot, bad ass chick. Girl power!  Though a fun game, I would assume it has been a good two years since I have turned it on. Pokemon Go was a constant headline with people being attacked and phones ripped out of their hands  (CBS) because they weren't paying attention to their surroundings. No, I wasn't going to be one of ' those people .' I continued to hear my staff talk about it, see it all over Facebook like my cousin driving my nephew around town trying to catch Pokemons and even friends in their twenties playing it while I am driving around San Francisco. What was the point of the game? I didn't understand it. Then again, I'm not a gamer or a 'nerd' as my friend described himself. I use apps that earn me gift cards for Hyatt or Target like ShopKick or mPlaces respe...

A shout-out to Terabit in Ottawa, Canada for being my 1500th Twitter follower. It's a small achievement of mine and I wanted to recognize it and show my appreciation. Now our connection is forever in the blogosphere. Thank you, Terabit.ca . Good luck to you! Ottawa actually reminded me of what Albert called 'Maple Syrup.' He was my traveling partner to Playa Del Carmen , Mexico. An interesting time for sure.

Memorial Day Weekend 2016 - SFMOMA Reopened

Image
The original plan was to go to the De Young Museum with Mackenzie to visit the Oscar De La Renta exhibition. It was an idea after a discussion with her about her ambitions and triggered me starting the #BernsFitnessChallenge on June 1st.  I haven't been to the De Young Museum in years and this was a perfect reason to go. While waiting for Ji-Young to come down before we headed over to the Golden Gate Park , and while I awaited for a response to an unresponsive Close5 buyer to confirm the morning's exchange, I looked up the De Young Museum on Twitter . Their latest post was recommending getting tickets for the exhibit this Memorial Day Weekend. I didn't think that it would be a challenge to get it in. It certainly wasn't the Cal State Fair . General admission tickets were sold out except for ones at 5 PM. The exhibit closed at 6:15 PM. At that point, an hour and fifteen minutes wasn't worth the $25 admission ticket. The VIP tickets were also sold out. Well......
