The owners of the Stanford Park Hotel are a client of a law firm I worked for seven years and now my Cugino works there as a server. This was my second time visiting and it's mainly because I wanted to see my Cousin. It's been quite a bit of time. It's a beautiful hotel and part of a chain with locations in Lafayette , Bodega Bay , Monterey , Carmel ,  San Francisco , and Napa . I went to a Yelp Elite event at the one in Lafayette and my aunt got married at the one in Bodega Bay. Check out my other post of a recent weekend getaway in Bodega Bay. It was wonderful. My cousin has been the lounge the two times I came to visit. I did bring my other two cousins the first time and we sat by the fireplace. I had a custom fruit bowl and a whiskey cocktail I had to pass onto my cousin. It was making me sleepy as work has been draining me. They had the kale salad and a beer. This is wear my cousin Leslie told me that she was pregnant! I felt honored to be told bef...

Bodega Bay, California

The last time I remember being in Bodega Bay was for my aunt's wedding at the Bodega Bay Lodge , that is owned by a former client. This trip came about after just wanting to get out of town with my ex-Roomie, Ji-Young. At first, it was a trip to Paso Robles but I realized how far it was and for an overnighter, that was a lot of driving. We picked a weekend and I booked the hotel knowing I wanted to take Bevo with me.  When we lived together, she was so awesome with him. She'd take him out for a walk as soon as she got home, would play with him and let him hang out with her even when I wasn't home. He was pretty spoiled and I trusted her completely. She has a Frenchie that I used to walk. Bevo coming was the reason why I booked our stay at the Harbor Bodega Inn . I found it on a pet-friendly site and booked it immediately. All in it was $138 a night and the rooms and grounds were super cute, close to restaurants and a general store and quick drive to the beach. Not to me...

It has been quite a year with a lot to reflect on. Now that the craziness of holiday parties are done for the month at DW, I have a second to breathe and think about, but more importantly write down, my goals for 2016. I just updated my post for 2015's goals. I could have done better but that's where 2016 comes into play: a time to make up or do it better this time around. So let me take a stab at this list.... 1) Travel internationally Since 2012, I have been able to make this happen. Nikki B. has inspired me to do this with her travels to Central & South America to improve her Spanish. I want to go back to Europe. I miss Italy. I want to stay on the Amalfi Coast and look out at the ocean from my balcony every morning. I want to drink wine again in Tuscany. I want to shop in Milan. I want to be in love in Verona.  Bordeaux would be my second choice.  UPDATE 11/26/16 - I went back to Italy in October 2016. I did shop in Milan and I had wine in Florence. ...

Mi Sonrisa

Image
" Sonrisa ?" " Si, mi corazon ," he says with a smile when he stops using the broom in his hands. His baseball cap is backwards and his white chef coat just a mess. I nicknamed him Sonrisa because he used to get so mad at our staff for a number of things. My way to make things better is to lighten the mood by making people laugh. Because everytime I would see him, he's so mad! Now he chills out when I joke with him when my servers aren't up to his expectation. " Why are you mad again, Sonrisa ?" " Why do you work so much ?" He is always willing to help with anything we need. He has three different sets of responsibilities with us now. Well-rounded. Without hesitation, " I want to retire when I'm 50. I don't want to be old and still have to work, so I'm saving what I can now. My father told me, work a lot and hard and you can retire early. He's over 50 now, back home it's hard to save so he's still ...
